Learning Log #4

"Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.''
                                  - Mark Victor Hansen
Being self-directed means having a set of goals which is a bridge to become a successful individual. A person who is self-directed never easily gives up until he/she reached their desired goals. Therefore, it is important to develop self-directed learners in order for the students to focus on what they really want in their life. And students will be able to assess or evaluate their own learning if they do the right thing. They will become independent on how to deal with certain situation because they are determined to do things which benefited them. Self-directed learners can do things better and faster than other because of their desired goals.
As a future educator, I will help my students by inspiring them like sharing an example on the advantages of being self-directed. I will tell my students that being self-directed helps them to become more mature in making wise decision because they will be able to manage what is the right thing to do in order to achieve their aims in life. I will motivate them every day not to give up easily and to focus on things that is useful for their own good in order for them to avoid failures in their high school life. I will see to it that they will put their goals into reality.
The student-support materials that I can provide to my students to help them become self-directed is that I will give them an activity that will make them to set some goals and to think of better ways or strategies on how to finish their activity correctly. With that, they will also develop being collaborative with other members.

Learning Log #3

1. Which tools do you find useful or appropriate for your subject area?

*The tools which I find useful in my subject area are Google drive, docs and slides. Google drive enable us learners to save files not just that but it is also capable of creating documents using docs or slides. In Google drive, I can send larger files to my friends or classmates directly using Gmail account and I can access my files wherever I am because it has a mobile application. What’s so great about Google drive was that I can create documents where I can input my assignments, projects or notes and also slides where I can input my reports.

2. How will you incorporate these tools in your unit plan?

*In our unit plan, we are using docs to create or edit our unit plan. In applying our unit plan to a class we are planning to create a micro lesson regarding our topic which is the solar system using PowerPoint or slides. In order for the learners to actively participate in a given tasks.

3. How will you use these tools in your future teaching profession?

*There are lots of tools which I can use in my future teaching profession therefore I will use as many as I can if needed in order for me to create a productive classroom. I will use a PowerPoint presentation in delivering my lesson and I will add graphic designs or effects related to the topic being presented in order to catch the attention of the learners. I will also use an online classroom in order for the students to boost their self-motivation to do their assignments or quizzes effectively.

Learning Log #2

             1. What are the ISTE standards that you possess? Please cite specific personal experiences wherein you portray such standards?

The International Society for Technology in Education Standards that I possess are computational thinker, digital citizen and global collaborator. I can say that I am a digital citizen because I know what my responsibilities are and also my limitations. As a student, I always use technology in making projects, outputs and for research purposes. In terms of using social media I am very much aware of my limitations, I see to it to avoid any reckless acts that can harm other people like bullying, posting of private information and many more. As a global collaborator, I asked other people for their opinions to a certain problem in order for me to have an accurate solution. Lastly, computational thinker, in our research we are obliged to provide a statement of the problem and so we are using step by step process in determining certain problems related to our topic.

             2. As a future teacher, in what ways can you develop these standards among your students?

              * As a future educator, I will develop these standards to my students by  letting them to experience the beauty of technology and guiding them in every step ahead. I will make sure to enlighten them the benefits of having such standards for themselves. I will motivate or inspire them to engage in exploring learning competencies and to come out in their shelf and be someone who is capable of doing anything or be someone who is ready to face real-world issues.
